Kelbie, Age 5

Kelbie, Age 5

Kelbie is an energetic, sweet  5 year old who was diagnosed with lower lumbar spina bifida without hydrocephalus at a young age. She has a passion for having fun and does not let her diagnosis slow her down.  She was just 2 years old when she received her first wheelchair and adapted to it without hesitation. In the beginning, getting in and out of her home had not been a problem for her parents as her and her chair were small enough to lift.  However, as she grows this task is getting more and more difficult.

Our foundation built a state-of-the-art stairlift for her front door, which will continue to help Kelbie and her family as she grows. We also provided Kelbie with an adaptive tricycle so she can keep up with her friends!

Recently, Kelbie underwent a leg amputation surgery. Although she is still full of life and adjusting well, she now requires new changes to her home. With your help, we were able to provide Kelbie with a bathroom transfer system.  Now that she is growing, the transfer system will be life changing for Kelbie and her parents. Her mother no longer has to struggle getting her in and out of the bathtub and we have given Kelbie the independence that we all take for granted.

The Maryam Parman Foundation has made a huge impact on our lives. The projects they have helped our family with have brought so much independence to our daughter and helped us, her parents, feel so much more confident in her day-to-day life. We are forever grateful for their help” – Callie, Kelbie’s Mother
