Miguel Salas is a sweet 14-year-old boy who has down syndrome and is nonverbal. While working with his speech pathologist, he uses an application called Touch Chat on an iPad that helps him communicate. His mother was unable to afford an iPad and the application so that Miguel could communicate at home, as he had been learning in school. MPFIC awarded Miguel a grant for an iPad, an iPad case, and the TouchChat application yearly fee. We are so happy to be able to help Miguel communicate more effectively with his family at home.
“I want to thank you very much for your generosity and making it possible for Miguel to have a better quality of life in his language. He has received a nice tablet with his case on it and also a check to buy the app for his device. We are very very grateful for this donation for my son, I don’t know how to explain the difference he will have, and the opportunity it gives him in his communication, and surely it will be better.”- Cristina, Miguel’s Mother
