MPFC Awarded Second Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood Grant

MPFC Awarded Second Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood Grant

We are honored to be selected again this year as a Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood Grant Recipient. MPFC has been awarded a $5,000 grant to help continue fund our Hippotherapy for Kids Program! This grant will continue to change the lives of our children who have already been impacted by Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood’s generosity. We are so thankful for their support.

Impact of Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood 2020 Grant

The Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood 2020 Grant has made a significant impact on the children enrolled in our MPFC Hippotherapy For Kids Program. Without this much needed funding, children like Nathan, Oliver, and Christian would not have access to this life changing experience. Hippotherapy provides a unique form of therapy because children see major progress with their diagnosis and also experience joy and fun. The outcomes from the Hippotherapy For Kids Program varies from child to child based on their medical conditions. While the specific outcomes differ for each child, the overall outcome is always the same – a child experiences a benefit from therapy that changes the course of their lives. Hippotherapy provides children with the ability to learn how to walk, communicate effectively, teaches children how to use their extremities, and so much more. Without these abilities, children would not be able to have a normally functioning life. Through the MPFC Hippotherapy For Kids Program, children are given the chance at a better quality of life and confidence that they can overcome any challenge they face despite their circumstances. The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Grant has helped change the lives of injured children and give a child confidence, joy, happiness, and a chance at a better-quality life.

A Special Impact

Oliver is a 4-year-old boy who is enrolled in our Hippotherapy For Kids Program and benefited from the Dunkin’ Joy In Childhood grant. Oliver was born with a rare genetic disorder and was unable to take any independent steps at the age of 3-years-old. The doctors did not have any suggestions on how to improve Oliver’s condition and his health insurance denied coverage for hippotherapy sessions. With the help of the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood grant, MPFC funded Oliver’s hippotherapy sessions.  Oliver went from not being able to take any independent steps to being able to take over 425 steps on his own! He is also learning how to use his basketball and baseball toys and experiencing the joys of childhood that most families take for granted. The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood grant helped Oliver and his family have access to this life changing therapy that brought Oliver so much joy and personal growth that he would not otherwise have.
